Message from Tom Sills, UK Sales Manager
Dear Valued Customers,
I hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an important update regarding the current situation surrounding the Red Sea crisis and its impact on container supply. Recent reports from reputable sources such as ‘The Loadstar’ have shed light on the challenges faced by ocean carriers, resulting in temporary measures being implemented.
In response to the increased demand for shipping capacity due to the Red Sea crisis and the rerouting of ships via the Cape of Good Hope, ocean carriers have temporarily suspended container sales and halted the return of equipment to lessors. While carriers have managed to maintain control over container supply through strategic measures, certain regions continue to experience tightness in supply.
At 1st Containers, we pride ourselves on maintaining healthy stock levels across the country, offering competitive rates to meet our customers’ needs. However, given the evolving landscape, we urge those considering container purchases in 2024 to act promptly to secure availability and favorable pricing. Already this year, we’ve witnessed factory prices rise by a significant amount, driven by delays in goods departing from China, with forecasts indicating further escalations throughout the year.
Despite challenges, we’re committed to evolving and seizing opportunities with both suppliers and customers. This year has seen record-breaking numbers, and we’ve worked diligently to replenish stock, ensuring we continue to offer the largest stock and highest-quality equipment to our customers.
Rest assured, our dedicated team is diligently navigating these industry-wide challenges and remains committed to providing unwavering support, expert advice, and guidance to our valued clientele.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Warm regards,
Tom Sills
